Os novos estilos musicais dentro do rock do início dos anos 80 foram apresentados às plateias canadenses no Heatwave Festival, realizado em agosto de 1980. Vamos relembrar o que os artistas presentes ao evento estavam fazendo na época, com canções de B-52’s, Talking Heads, Pretenders, BB Gabor, Teenage Head, Dave Edmunds e Elvis Costello, mas também de remanescentes do punk, como Clash e Ramones.
